| Arlington's StaffDon Brooks, Dean EmeritusDon Brooks received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on Friday evening, November 11, 1972, some 30,000 feet above the state of Illinois. Events leading up to this life-changing experience began two days earlier. On Wednesday, November 9, 1972, he was in Des Moines, Iowa for a three-day company meeting. At dinner that night, Jim Hammond, a manager from Denver, Colorado, turned the conversation to religious matters and particularly to salvation. After sharing his conversion experience, Jim handed Don a tract entitled "Peace with God." Two days later, Don would pull out the tract on the airplane and begin reading. Scripture verses like Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16; and Romans 10:9-10 were all given along with illustrations showing man's separation from God and the various ineffective ways that man has tried to bridge that gap between himself and God. On the last page was a short prayer for salvation. After reading the prayer two or three times, Don began to pray that prayer in his heart. In that moment, he knew he would never forget how Jesus Christ entered his heart and life. In his own words, "it has been a growing love affair with Christ ever since." Since then, God has allowed him to graduate from Baltimore School of the Bible (1977), from Arlington Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts degree (1986), and from Bethany Theological Seminary with a Master of Biblical Studies degree (1991). He also has had the privilege of teaching at Baltimore School of the Bible (1978-1989), being an associate missionary with BIMI (1990-1992), and serving as the Dean of Arlington Bible College & Institute (2003-2009). He continues to serve at Arlington Bible College & Institute as the Dean Emeritus and as a teacher in the College. His church ministries include teaching Sunday School classes, leading the New Members Classes, and serving as a deacon at Arlington Baptist Church. |
